Wednesday, September 9, 2015 (Week 3, Day 12)

8th Grade Exp: Pizza Snacks Lab!

Teen Issues: Ms. Clawson teaching. Respect and responsibility.

Foods 1:

  • Reading a Recipe PPT with  “Recipe Reading Notes”
  • “Reading a Recipe” in packet 
  • Discuss definition: (recipe) “yield”
  • Dishwashing Procedure 
  • Handwashing-Potato Activity (15 min)
Child Dev. 1:  We listened to three songs about fatherhood and disussed them. Finish Ch. 2 notes and summaries.

Friday, Sept. 4, 2015 (Week 2, Day 10)

8th Grade: Smoothie Lab!  Students had fun, enjoyed the smoothie, and learned how to clean a blender properly! :)

Teen Issues: Students watched a clip from the movie Friday Night Lights that addressed potential and overcoming adversity.  We also talked about the difference between being respectful and being disrespectful in their everyday lives.  They drew out the scenerios on their iPads and presented them to the class.

Foods 1:  Pre-Lab Guidelines PPT and notes (pg 13 in pkt).  Waffle cookies demo by Mrs. Stoakes. Students observed in preparation for next week's lab.

Child Development: Watched the Realcare Baby demo video, answered the quiz and went over it. Take the paper home to get a parent signature.  Discussed Rewards and Challenges of being a parent to get ready for our parenting lesson next week.

Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, (Week 2, Day 9)

8th grade Exp: Completed the Learning Stations review.  Test over Food and Nutrition. Friday or Tuesday.

Teen Issues: Pg. 15 Moral Courage Treasure Hunt Bingo,
Answered in-class discussion questions on 16 in the pkt. on Character.
Did an in-class activity on trusting a friend.

Foods 1: Any students that did not get the formative assessment on measurements done yesterday (Wed.) on Sorative, did so today.
Completed Measuring Learning Stations in the lab in small groups.

Creative Foods: Continued working on the Knife Textbook Assignment, emailed to students on Wednesday-Thursday.

Child Development: Finished the Babies Documentary, answered questions on guide sheet, discussed as a class.
